Senior Data Engineering Manager (Level 5) | $140-150K
Position Summary:
The Data Engineering Manager will lead and manage a team of Data Engineers. You will manage the day-to-day activities of the Data Service engineers. You will use an Agile development methodology to deliver business value in two-week sprints. You will coordinate with the Data Product Manger on priorities. You will also be involved in developing solutions required to meet business needs. The Data Services team is responsible for all Reporting, Data files & Delivery, Dashboards and Database Management on the Data Platform. You will be expected to work in our Denver office about 90% of the time.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively mentor and grow the team, identify the required skills, hire the best talent, actively manage their performance, and help them to grow to their fullest potential.
- Proactively drive the vision for data engineering across our data platform and define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision.
- Lead the design and development of the Operational Data Store to integrate, cleanse and conform data from multiple processor environments.
- Lead the design and development of the Analytic Data Environment.
- Lead the effort to design, build and deliver high impact Dashboards, Reports and Data Visualizations for both internal and external users.
- Lead the effort to create a centralized data dictionary, with subject based dictionaries for the different business domains.
- Collaborate with the Data Product Manager on Business needs, solutions, priorities, and delivery schedules.
- Drive data quality and stewardship across QRails Data Projects related business areas.
- Define and manage SLAs for all data sets and processes running in production.
Requirements:
Skills:
Provide strong data infrastructure and data architecture skills, a proven track record of leading and scaling data teams, strong operational skills to drive efficiency and speed, strong project leadership, and a strong vision for how data engineering can proactively create positive impacts for companies.
- 5+ years of Data Architecture experience
- 2+ years’ experience managing and leading a large team of Data Engineers.
- 6+ years of management experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies.
Experience:
- Experience scaling and managing large data engineering teams.
- Experience working in a very dynamic and collaborative work environment.
- Working knowledge of Agile development methodology and concepts.
- Communication and leadership experience and experience initiating and driving projects.
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or other technical fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ERwin Data Modeler V7 or a comparable data modeling tool highly desire.
- Experience working as a member of distributed data architecture teams.
- Working knowledge of Agile development methodology and concepts.
- Understanding of information systems and data life-cycle management best practices and methodologies, formal systems engineering life cycle (SELC), and systems development life cycle (SDLC).
- Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services, enterprise data management, information security, applications development, and cloud-based architectures (AWS, Google).
- Experience with enterprise data management technologies, including database platforms, ETL tools, SQL, and Master Data Management.
- Experience with DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines is a big plus.
- Experience in software development and familiar with Jira, GitHub, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, MySQL, Python, Service Oriented Architectures, and AWS (preferred).
- Excellent communications to both technical and non-technical audiences.
